Craig Prescott established the plumbing and heating company Chikaka and has pulled together a strong order book as he fulfils his desire to create a successful firm. The Grimsby company is already working with large Lincolnshire organisation Taylor Pearson Construction at several sites, with primary schools, colleges and a prison already in a portfolio that includes domestic, commercial and industrial work.

Mr Prescott, who has spent 12 year cs in his trade, is proud that the firm can boast an impressive CV of qualifications and accreditations. He said: "Since leaving school, I have been working for local plumbing and heating companies.

"I wanted to go self-employed and what has helped is the fact that I have managed to establish a good name and we are winning some large contracts."

Keen to remain on the tools as he builds up the business with a focus on quality, Mr Prescott initially took on apprentice Daniel Allen, but has now expanded, taking on Jonathan Cook and Luke Sargent, two tradesmen who either had been or were about to be let go by other fir ms.
