We run an Apprentice Academy which provides real world training and career opportunities to the local community. GasSure delivers peace of mind to home owners by offering a monthly plan for boilers, hot water, heating and gas fires.

Formed in 1911 by the great grandfather of the present Managing Director, Roddy Frew, the firm moved into plumbing and heating contracting under the guidance of the founder's son Alexander Frew who headed the company from 1946 to 1975. Today, the company is headed by Roddy Frew, and now offers a comprehensive range of property solutions from maintenance and property upgrades to large mechanical installations. We work for many major private house developers, main contractors, and social housing providers.
We provide our customers in the public and private sectors with an integrated approach to building services including renewable technologies, we also provide our private housing developers, main contracts and social housing providers with a quality building services, design and installation service.
Below is a selection of complete and current projects we have worked on over the last few years. Internal Toilets Refurbishment including upgrading of disabled facilities, new entrance doors and access ramps. Construction of a new Primary and Community Centre on the site of the existing Danderhall Primary School.
The business firmly believes that, in order to grow over the next 100 years, it needs to develop the skills, values and behaviours of our team to create the best technicians, managers and leaders in the industry. This conviction resulted in The James Frew Academy being set up. The Academy was established in 2017, in collaboration with West College Scotland, to educate our workforce in the James Frew Way.

Absolutely disgusting they were called today at 09.00 for my 95 order Grandfather who is hard of hearing, we asked them to call us half an hour before they arrived so one of us could need the engineer as my Grandfather wouldn't hear the door bell. They never called and turned up at 18 20 this is terrible if it wasn't for a neighbour seeing the engineer we wouldn't have known.
To keep a 95 Yr old all day with no heating is bad enough but then also not to act on our instructions was disgusting. Not what we were told would happen. If the neighbour wouldn't have them he would have went all night with heating. Terrible behaviour from them.

Wanted a simple annual service to my boiler. Gassure did not turn up, had not even allocated a slot for the time that was agreed. Very unproffesional, and very discourteous. If I had not phoned them they clearly would have done nothing about it.in fact they wouldn't even have known. Obviously they do not have their finger on the pulse. Poor show.

On Friday 11th February I had a new Worcester Bosch Central Heating boiler installed and I can't praise Brian (Plumber) and Johnathon (Electrician) enough. They went about there business in a pleasant but workmanlike manner and I have nothing but praise for them right down to how they tidied up after they had carried out their part in the process. Had a new Combi boiler installed on Monday the engineers Brian and Adam did a great job and were Very pleasant and professional in doing their job they worked all day even through their lunch break to get the job done as they had a lot of work to do as it was a conversion from a regular boiler i would highly recommend James Frew to anyone needing a boiler installation as they will get a first class job done

Moved into the area 6 weeks ago and as we like to use local companies where possible so we called for safety check and to get cover.engineer came out 3 weeks ago and said we needed a small fix to get cover.no problem we said. waited for 2 weeks for a call back to organize this which didn't happen we had to chase them, then we had to pre pay the amount for the job to be done and were given a date and time slot for the engineer visit.guess what no engineer, no call to say it wouldn't be happening and no text either.then to add insut to injury when i called this morning to ask why this was i was made to feel somehow it was my fault from the very insulting lady on the phone who then told me they were waiting on the parts? then after being put on hold she came back saying it would be monday? to be honest if you are reading this before you call to arrange cover with this company. please think again not professional, not on time, no communication very very poor customer service, go to brittish gas for cover so much easier and way more helpful and communicatve

Waited for 4 hours for my gas safety check but the engineer failed to show up. I'm sitting in my house freezing because I'm not to turn on my boiler until it's been done. Called up to find out why it's a no show, "we're busy with emergencies" so why not call and let me know? Now I need to wait another week to get it done, they can use force if you don't allow access but what do we get for the inconvenience of a no show engineer?

This review is on behalf of my brother who had his council house, in Wilson St Ayr, completely remodernised. We are extremely pleased with the workmanship of the rewire, new ch, kitchen and bathroom. The work was completed within two weeks and the foreman, Des, was in touch advising us of the progress every step of the way. Very professional and efficient.

If only more companies provided a standard of service as efficient and responsive as Frew the country would be a lot better and people like me could relax knowing that their gas boiler and heating system was in excellent hands. I am slighty nervous of anything involving gas but have found this company responsive to any problems I raise with them and with never complaint or hesitation visit the house and sort out any problems and put my mind at ease. never had a complaint regardless of time or weather. The staff manning the lines are unfailingly helpful and the guys who visit are always just such nice guys with a kind demeanour.

This Review is for my Father in law Mr Robert Hood of Paterson Avenue, Irvine Who is a Senior Citizen and does not have a Google account The engineer who came was Grant Priestley and he was a great help in letting me know how everything with my boiler was. I was grateful for his professionalism in doing the service on my boiler and as always James Frew have been fantastic in keeping me informed and making sure my heating system is kept in tip top condition. We could not ask for more from GasSure or James Frew as i know them and i will continue to use them as i have for many many years now

I have been with James Frew for a couple of years now, and i have had a few repairs. 60% of the time the Gas Engineers turned up the other 40% never bothered to contact me. I had an on going repair which took seven different Engineer's to fix my Boiler, all with lot's of head scratching and no clue. The latest from James Frew was the final straw for me.
My boiler needed a new Diaphragm, and they told me that the part would be ordered and fitted within a week. I then had a voicemail message left by James Frew telling me the part can no longer be sourced, and a new boiler was needed.! I contacted the company and they told me the parts were obsolete. Not happy with them telling me i needed a new Boiler, i went online and found various suppliers of that specific part which was around 80.
I explained to the office that I could get the part so why can't they.? They then informed me that because the parts suppliers were not on their contract list they could not use them. Disgusted in their useless explanation, I said what if I buy the part and they fit it. They said they would need to charge me labour etc etc. and the part would not be the same as the one they could not get.!

I find the company completely unprofessional and have a could not care less attitude. I would advise anyone wishing to use James Frew to seriously think again. Truly an awful company.
